<strong><span style=”font-family:arial;”>Speaking of “Dead Men Walking”, one has to consider the likely fate of Tidings Editor Andrew Scot Bolsinger. </span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>While the Tidings would never be confused with the NY Times, it has a long and occasionally proud history serving Ashland. However, since the MT’s acquisition and under Bolsinger’s guidance, things have badly disintegrated. Circulation has reportedly declined and staff turnover has accelerated.</span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>The incredibly disgusting front page photo spread on body piercings and “suspensions” reached a new all-time low. The clueless response by Bolsinger to a tidal wave of subscriber disgust and cancellations was a classic of double-talk and mea culpa. </span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>Only confirmed that he is out of touch with the community.</span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>Rumor has it that MT Publisher Singletary really came down hard. </span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>For an excellent discussion of the sorry state of affairs at the Tidings, read the Guest Opinion from July 19, 2005 (see link): <a href=”http://www.dailytidings.com/2005/0719/071905forum.shtml”>http://www.dailytidings.com/2005/0719/071905forum.shtml</a></span></strong><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong>

<strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>From all the published reports, it seems that virtually <em>all</em> the support for embattled police chief Bianca is coming from Ashland’s homeless. </span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>Little or no vocal support for Bianca is coming from those citizens with the biggest stake in the controversy…namely, everyone else. </span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>Seems the Council and Mayor are, once again, totally out of touch with the the mainstream and, again, are bending over and dropping their drawers for the narrowest of interests. </span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”>Where is the leadership? Unless they wake up and lead, they will soon find the APD in such disarray</span></strong> <strong><span style=”font-family:arial;”>that the damage will be felt for years to come.</span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong><br /><strong><span style=”font-family:Arial;”></span></strong>
